Hackney: A place
for everyone

Keeping Hackney as a place for everyone is our shared vision for the Council. Launched in 2018 the Council has been working hard to achieve the ambitious priorities set out in the Mayor’s manifesto.  Work includes tackling inequality and poverty, maintaining and celebrating the borough’s rich diversity and maximising affordable homes. We are doing this while making sure that all our residents have access to excellent services and public spaces, to the best education and training, and to jobs and opportunities.

The new manifesto on Building A Fairer, Safer and More Sustainable Hackney, on which the Mayor and Labour Group were elected, is ambitious for the borough’s future. Key objectives have already been incorporated into the Mayor’s new priorities. Guiding managers and staff, our corporate plan shows how the Council will deliver that ambitious manifesto by 2022, and is underpinned by our new ten year Community Strategy.

WE’RE INSPIRED BY

Diversity;

the fact of many different types of things or people being included in something.

Diversity is at the heart of what makes Hackney special, and central to the ‘Hackney: A Place for Everyone’ vision.

Version 2.0 further develops the concept of diversity through the use of diverse typefaces. Like the many people and communities in our borough, typefaces are unique. They also come in sets and different sizes, shapes and weights.

We have used easily identifiable places in Hackney, with different typeface characters to create a diverse typographical image. Each different font represents one of our diverse communities and people.

We have then added a pattern background to provide further context to the areas and an added depth to our designs.
