Our internal communication and engagement work is underpinned by our Values. Alongside the #workingforHackney, our Values brand visually represents what we are, and also what we aspire to be! Our Values help achieve our Vision for Hackney by setting our service planning, helping us recruit the right staff, and guiding managers and staff towards the behaviours we want them to model so we achieve the best for residents.

Value Icons origins
Each value was born from a simple shape. Remember the shape, remember the value.
Values collateral
Our values were launched to the organisation by providing all staff with a choice of lanyards to use with ID cards. This helped us to engage with staff and quickly increase recognition of the values. Other items such as mugs and button badges were also offered to staff to chose from.
The values are an integral part of our performance management process. Hackney Check Ins are conversations that happen between managers and their team members every 4-6 weeks. The purpose of Check Ins, places equal emphasis on what people do and how they do it using our Hackney Values.
